This is from Ireland's National broadcaster RTE Radio, and holds one of the largest archives of feature documentary programmes in Europe, many of which have claimed international prizes.

A rich source of and variety of narrative structures.

I guess Clark alludes to this with his Cordesman reference, but I'll be more explicit.

The human voice delivers all kinds of non textual information that no quote in print can replicate --- emotional, authenticity, age, class, education, ethnicity, etc.

I would say yes, public radio's the biggest taker of "narrative radio" in the United States. The BBC, of course, does do longer form, sound-rich stuff. You might also check out Deutsche Welle radio, and Radio Netherlands. RFE and Radio Liberty and Voice of America are other places to look (I mean listen). Hope that helps -- Clark

In the U.S., the place to do narrative radio is mostly (exclusively?) on public stations. You mention the BBC, an obvious reference, but I'd like to know if there are other international radio networks you would recommend for comparison of styles, methods, etc?

PS: My <a href="http://www.pri.org/theworld/?q=node/16625" rel="nofollow">small contribution</a> to telling stories with music.
