		<description>most newspaper editors have no training whatsoever (except their own experience). one day they&#039;re a reporter and the next day, presto!, they are an &quot;editor.&quot; indeed, some editors have never been reporters, or at least not for long. they just start editing things with little thought or rhyme or reason.

really good reporters are often made editors even tough they are not qualified or do NOT have the temperement to be an effective editor and manager of people. a good number of these so-called &quot;editors&quot; go high up into newspaper (or magazine) management.

is it any wonder why journalism is so screwed up?</description>
